Ahoy! Five years on board!

My blog did cross a pompous milestone of Five Years! And this is the first year, it had gone by without me blowing the trumpet for it..

I recently revamped the looks of my site. And thought of cleaning up my past posts. Since I am yet to grow strong within to call crap as crap, my old silly posts still stay, for now.. But I had better success with my drafts and this one needed to be posted on my blog..

I wrote this for my 100th post.. But I am much closer to my 500th right now.. So I have changed over those 100s of posts and might also claim to have grown a teensy bit.. Yet in the depth of my hearts, I still have a high pride of my blog and here below is one such pompous trumpet blowing post.. Reserve your judgements, till you read it till the very end..

Now go grab a cup of coffee or chai and some refreshments so you won’t sleep in between this long post of ramble.. 😉

This is my 100th post!

It had taken a very long journey of two years to cross the two-thirds, while just one month was enough to complete the last one-third.

I have successfully managed to post a day on every day so far, in spite of the times I was inclined to not write up the next. I wanted to post daily, not out of some challenge or someone dared me to! I took this up voluntarily for a personal reason and this seems to work beautifully.

Now is the time to take a look back, so I would know what I have come across, so I could reassure myself that, I could go further and reach where I want to reach!

I had updated my Facebook page’s ‘About me’ as follows. Do take note that it was written more than a year back.

For those who can’t read or understand Tamil, feel free to jump to the English version..

(Follow)..

First and foremost,
Tamil is my mother
while English is my lover..

The operative words
in this profile are
I,
Me
and
Myself..

I don’t care
whether you like/share my posts or not..
So don’t expect me to like your posts..

Is this arrogance?

Before judging the above statements
read the following fully..

My philosophy is
to be the sculptor
who leaves his signature
in his work of art and
not as an scribble
in a corner of the art..

He never cares about
who all is gonna admire his work..

Or even care about
whether it will be
in the top of a temple,
in the Midland
for the entire world to see,
or whether it will be
one of those masterpieces
which gets drowned in the sea
and hence forbidden to the world..

The joy to me is in writing,
the likes and shares
are only to boost my ego..
And hence of
no true worth to anyone..

And also I’ve got
an inbuilt core,
which keeps on burning
to fuel my imagination..

I fear over-working of my brain,
hence please don’t bother
boosting your ego
with being an inspiration to me..

I treasure
every outcome of my words
into a post as a child,
conceived in the depths of my heart..

I know the worth of my words
and I am simply too busy
to be bothered about your opinion..

I’m not an ace in this field
and has a very very long way to reach there,
yet I’ve travelled a long path
to reach this point..

I don’t find any reasons
for any comparisons
between whatsoever and whosoever..

For we came through different roads
and are moving to different destinations..

We are here together
only for a short journey
as co-passengers..

So don’t you dare dream
to get my world changed
with your presence
for it’s already
quite content and complete
with what I’m already gifted..

The only change
with adding me as your friend
is an addition to your friend list
and nothing else changes..

If my words inspire you
or do whatever you assume / presume,
please feel free to follow..

Fair warning that,
you aren’t going to get
anything new
by becoming my friend..

Let our words talk..
And let’s stand aside and
just enjoy the show..

If you are still here, because my words kept you, and not for any other compulsive reasons, you might be interested in my blog too..

After a few months of posting the above, I edited the About me page in my blog as it looks now in the page “A Selfie of me”. There seems to be a vast difference in my attitude even then. Just because of few months of blogging.

Would I still say the same things about me today? Hmm.. Partly yes. There are certain things that has gone drastic changes, while some are still believed as earlier and if possible even stronger. The things I have noticed as changed since then:

  • I have more respect for my followers.
  • I do care about the likes, shares and comments (more so from few and not too much for other few)
  • Feel more gratitude for every single person visiting the blog.
  • Lost a bit of arrogance. (Right, I still got a long way to go)
  • A major change in my writing style and content.
    • I can write even under pressure and with a schedule.
    • I can write things in lighter sense too, without being too pompous with the words.
    • I could simplify my language. (Honestly, I do regret a bit for losing those words in my post)
    • The posts could be bit more fun than serious.

There ends the draft.

I am what I depict in my blog’s about page, as well as what’s written above. I am multi-faceted and have grown to accept myself little more gracefully and yet be ashamed of being so self-centered anywhere else except in the quoted post.

[Lifting my head to peep at the world with people other than me and some of them seems to be familiar from long past, from when I have not gone into hiding]

Oh, Thank YOU so much for sticking around here for years, despite my absence.. You are the very reason I dare to lift up my head at times.. 😉

And dear reader, yes, you, Thank you for bothering to read this lengthy ramble.. You might as well check my other posts to know I do write quite nicely at times..

Keep smiling and spread the cheer!

A walk “Through the Mist”

This is a walk down a memory lane, a beautiful lane for me!

Life keeps surprising us when we least expect it!

And becoming associated with “Through the Mist” was one such accident!

The history of the accident goes like this:

Not long ago, yet, almost 3 years back, out of the blue, I was asked by Jithin, the Trablogger, and without knowing the impact, I accepted to be the co-ordinator / book designer / editor of a new project.

My journey into his book’s Acknowledgements page was even more accidental and that’s what has led to this. He was having the idea of taking the Flash Fiction Chain, an feature he had in his blog to the next level. The working of Flash Fiction is, A part of story triggered by an image, and that story is evolved by a chain of authors.

So the idea mixed up with a book evolved into this: A book of five stories, written by five authors. So the Flash Fiction Chain grew up to Dream Chasing Chain, the initial name of this project.

A team of Five authors were hunted in blogosphere and the team finalised was:

Abirami
Adhithya
Nimitha
Rupali
Sona

So the idea behind the book was to: One of them starts each story, with the same image as their base, another builds it, another tighten the plots, another explain the knots and yet another ties off the knots! Not necessarily in that order or exclusively. Each of them takes part of each such process! And brings together one single story! Alas, the book is made of five such stories!

What made it more interesting?!

The team.. They range from different age groups, cultural backgrounds, different native-languages, many more differences, united by the single idea of “Writing”. And the difference continues therein too. Though all of them are very good fiction writers, as it turned out to be, they weren’t writing fiction forever. Their preferred mode of writing too varied from poetry, prose, short notes, ramblings, listicles and what not!

A complete set of strangers, set out to work together. A picture clicked by Jithin was finalised as the core theme that stings together all the stories. The team of five authors, set out to create symphony out of chaos. This was the rhythm the music notes spun out to..

(Of course, the names were decided after writing the story.)

There was a very scarce communication between them and I was the one, privileged to keep track of the progress of the story and be the common point of contact for all of them, till the point of the stories first draft is completed!

None of them knew what happened to the characters they have created, nor did they take it up in the way the previous author has had in mind. Yes, I asked them and I can assure you that, none of them had expected what was coming up next.

Yet, the basic rule of sticking to the theme for each story was strictly adhered to and each story’s voice is different and yet every one picked up the tu(o)ne and built upon those lines.

It seems to be a fairly simple process, from this end. But the journey through was a wonderful experience and watching the story grow part by part was an amazing experience, to be experienced.

Amazingly, the whole process of writing was completed within around a month. The writers did keep up to their timelines and for the maximum part, their initial story itself made it to the book. [This might also be attributed to the admiration of the writings as such or lack of skills or the knowledge of the lazy-bone editor of the book. Oh, wait, That’s ME! Hmm.. Maybe, I totally accept those facts 😉 But I still believe that the initial form is better than what “I” could have done. Maybe, a better editor knows what to do.]

And yes, I did move around my lazy-ass once in awhile to make sure the stories hasn’t wandered from the broad path and I proudly accept that I loved the formatting part of the book. I take full credit for it and am so happy for having such a complete freedom and trust [or is it for lack of getting a better designer?! I don’t think that would be the case and I don’t want to know, if it is 😉 ]

Then came the process of tying the loose ends of drafts into a book. That’s when the team of strangers evolved into friends. The discussions on the name for the stories (suggested by the finisher of the story and approved by the rest) and the name for the book, which took long hours of considering various factors and we ended up with “Through the Mist.”

Later, the wait for ISBN took very long with the previous system of approval by post. And luckily for us, they updated it to online system and fast approvals, by the time we have lost our patience for waiting for it and went ahead with printing.

At last, everything fell into place and the shout-out to public was made last year!

There are many souls in each of our lives to be thankful for and the lessons learnt are itched deeper into my soul than most other lessons learnt in life. The transition from a draft to book, takes along with it, a little soul of each of the members.

For me, personally, the transition of the process is lot more! And I thank you all, my teammates, blogger friends and every reader of my words.. Thank you!

We started selling the paperback here and Kindle edition is available in Amazon.

The books are still selling and are the results worth this effort?
Reviews will be updated soon!

Before that, Would you like to judge it for yourself?

Just another post!

Long Long ago,
Not so long ago,
The Earth visited the same spot,
As it is today,
In its orbit around the Sun,
And on that fine day,
A pebble was dropped
To create Ripples
In the exploding world of bits and bytes,
As aadhira.wordpress.com
And while earth
was busy riding on
its merry-go-round
And has completed four rounds,
Somewhere along the lines
Many many posts were published,
Many strangers have become dear friends,
And few of them become closer as a team
To bring out a book..

And Here I am,
Looking back with pride,
Looking merrily at the upgrade,
Quenching the thirst of my narcissism
As aadhira.me,
Looking hopefully at the future,
For much more experiences
That would help me learn, grow, nurture and
Make me a better person,
So I could throw away my two cents
And make it worthy for
Those who happen to stumble upon,
And also good enough for them to
Let the ripple carry on and on
Into the endless expanse
Of this universe..

As Ripples step into its fifth year,
Let me try to bring in
Little more Happiness, Smile and Cheer
To everyone in the vast expanse..

Keep smiling!

Cheers,
Aadhira

The Leap in the Leap Year!!

A New Year in the calendar
Is also a New Year for the Ripples!!
It had been two years
Since the first ripple was created!

I look back and cherish that
I have more followers than my posts
The years here taught and reinstated that
The family will be there for me
Through the thick and thin..

I have gained lots from you
And I am here to share more!
The more being, A post a day!
Yes, this is the biggest leap
I could ever make in the blog.

For, what I have been so far was
At my own liberty on the posts,
Never on any schedule,
Not on any routine,
Unpredictable even to me.

Why the leap?
It is a leap year!
So Why not take a leap.. 😉
Life is throwing challenges
Unexpected and Uprooting
So, why not take
An expected and not-so-impossible
To achieve challenge?

The one thing that always
Cheers up anyone is
A kind word and a little recognition
Which is abundant and easy
From my awesome readers!

So I am looking forward,
To earn them,
To keep me sane,
From every other challenge
Life is gonna throw my way
In the coming year!

Happy Blogging!
Happier Living!!
Never forget to
Keep Smiling!!!
