Why am I here?

I’ve been writing and rewriting this post so many times without anything coming close to reflect me and why I am coming back to blogging after a complete absence of six months..

What is the pull that drags me back to writing?

It is the comfort of mother’s lap..
It is the pride of creating..
It is the addiction to achievement..
It is the happiness gained by sharing happiness..
It is knowing some unknown face is brightening up with a smile while reading my writing..
It is the boost to my narcissism..
It is the motivation I gain while looking back at my past posts..

So here I’m.. once again..

Let our smile brighten up our face and the world..

Keep smiling.. 🙂

Time to boast!!!!!

Time to boast!!!!!

Phew!!!!!!!!!!

What a tremendous year it had been!

And once again another challenge is completed and it is not another mere challenge!

A post a day for every single day for the past year!!!

My Stats.png

And yes I have completed it and its time for me to boast now..

For I am going to take that much needed break from the next year and who knows.. The next year’s resolution might be to not even post for any day.. 😛 😛 😛
Ah.. You are not getting off my ramblings that easily.. But you all are definitely getting a breather more than you desire.. 😉 (See I am not spammer for all years 😛 )

Now I am going to disclose a secret! Strictly for your eyes only!! 😛 😛 😛

I promised to post everyday and I did make it till Oct 15 without much of an issue. And the posts started to gradually decline to almost only one post per week. But here I am catching up on so much of the old stuff all the old stuff and posting some back dated posts! The link for those posts are available at the end of this post! (Feel free to skip reading through the big list)

Now it’s time to draw the curtain to 2016 as well as all the negativity that has creeped into the lives. As the day dawns tomorrow, let there be light, humor, laughter, happiness and every beautiful thing along with an unending supply of smile for you to cherish and to spread for the world to become a better place.

Keep smiling and spread the cheer forever!

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

To my dearest readers..

To my dearest readers..

Time flies or crawls for the same period depending on what you are measuring it with.

Just awhile back, I was heaving a sigh, for a particular memory of few months back seemed to be very distant. But here I am writing my 300th post and have successfully kept up my new year resolution so far.

For the past few days I almost skip to post anything, I was not even inclined to throwback my old posts or polish those drafts and hit publish. It was so easy to take away the thought of posting anything on blog. And it is surely reflecting in my past few posts.

The one thing that had me and still pushing me to hit the publish everyday is the notification.

I have realised the easiest way to get followers and boost the stats is to devote time in exploring other blogs and the best advertisement for any blog is in the spontaneous comments that you leave across other blogs. It is indeed a very simple proportion. The more you give, the more you get.

But, I have been getting new followers almost everyday and most of them are not ‘follow-back’ followers. While few follow and disappear, few take the follow seriously and leave likes / comments.

Though I have been regular in posting, I have been a very poor follower myself and hardly interact with my fellow bloggers beyond my blog. This is one serious regret I have and I might even dedicate next year just for actually following other blogs.

While I would bother about them next year, let us come back to the present.

I have few wonderful posts to my credit and I will not shy from accepting the praise on those. As well I do acknowledge myself, I have been giving random senseless posts too. They are the forced / last-minute posts, posted just for keeping on blogging.

I do appreciate each and every blogger’s support and trusting me to get-over the crappy posts and publish few more nice posts. Ripples will continue to cause ripples, just for those few kind hearted ones. Thanks is an inadequate words to say to you people.

Do take a bow from me and kind smile for you and some more smiles for you to pass on.. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Happy Blogging!

Thank You Stalker!

wp-1469468429692.jpeg

Every work of art has
Flawless Beauty,
Beautiful Flaws,
Mere Perfection,
Lack of Substance,
Life Lesson,
A mere scribble
And so much more..

And every such creator
Needs, not wants,
Needs a follower,
Bordering the level
of a professional stalker,
Without the creepiness,
But just with the consistency
And observation of the stalker..

To read the words,
To read the spaces,
Between the lines,
To realise the intent,
To understand the nuances,
To find out the unwritten words,
To appreciate the concealment,
Of ingeniousness inside simplicity..

To criticise,
To condemn,
To proofread,
To push when stagnating,
To pull down when going overboard,
To travel alongside,
Just to make sure,
The journey isn’t lonely..

For every journey
Is bound to get lonely at times
And also it could make sure that
The traveller feels
Abandoned,
Hopeless,
Lost and maybe
On the wrong route..

So I dedicate this 275th post,
To thank my followers,
Friends, critics and supporters
And especially my stalkers,
For every single Like,
Comment and Follower,
On and Off the WordPress,
For getting me here!

(: THANK YOU! 🙂

Smile!

I know I have been postponing all my awards’ posts and I should have at least added a ‘No Awards Policy’ to safely escape. (I could hear your mind voice saying, lazy girl.. But…. Fine.. Let me face it, yes I am lazy for award posts and the reason I say to procrastinate it every time is ‘I can’t tag few and not tag others’.. Yup, a very silly excuse.. But that discussion is for another post and another day)

But I couldn’t resist this happiness tag like other awards. The Tag is so cheerful and why not spread a smile with it?! Thanks to Ms. Alamelu for successfully getting me to finish up a tagged post.. 😉

All I have to do is list 5 things which make me happy and 5 songs which make me happy. (Yes, we could ignore the tag 5 people to continue part, which I am not going to do)

What makes me happy?

  1. Appreciation
A word of sincere appreciation for a work I did without drawing attention to anyone.
Thanks for noticing those tiny details. 🙂
  2. Friends
(No, I am not talking about the TV series. Yes, it is supposed to make you happy from what I have heard and I am yet to experience the ‘FRIENDS’ effect)
But I have got few great friends, who are great in pulling the leg to keep me grounded as well as give me a push to get me back to my feet.
  3. Making someone happy!
See you smile makes me smile. The simple act of spreading smile is underrated. Please don’t neglect that!
  4. My Stats
I would be lying if I say like-a-saint that I am  unaffected by the figures rising up and for those sweet notifications pop up to remind me of my milestones.
  5. Completing something
Being the lazy person I am, I stick to very few things till completion and those things are always a reason for my happiness.

What songs make me happy?

This is lot tougher than the previous one. For how could I restrict to just five songs?! Still listing the first five that pops up!

  1. Chinnanchiru Kiliye Kannamma
  2. Chippi Irukuthu muthum irukkuthu
  3. Aananda yaazhai meetugiraai
  4. Oru Deivam thantha poove
  5. Unakenna venum sollu

All songs are in Tamil and the links direct you to complete details, video, lyrics and translation of the songs.

I would like to change the tag to continue to the following.

Please do comment the first thing that strikes your mind when you hear the word – smile.

If nothing comes up, let me know of at least one thing that crosses your mind when you hear about me / my blog.

Whether you comment or not, don’t forget to collect your smile from here! This is a genie that replenishes continuously, so take as many as you would like!

😀 🙂 😀

A milestone!

A milestone!

Today is a better day than most and special for more than one reason. And here I’m at a loss of words to articulate the thousands of thoughts rushing to spill out and eventually going down the drain..

I have commented few hours back on a Facebook post. I was asked, why do I write and my reply was, ‘Writing is the balancing pole in the right rope walk of life‘ Those words just stumbled out of my fingers and it was so spontaneous and also from the depth of my conscience, that it was a jolt to read it myself. The words are true to the last letter.

It had been six months since the year started. It means, I’ve crossed half way through my challenge of posting every day..

And this also happens to be my 250th post on Ripples. The tiny drop causing ripples has come a long way since the first post. Every day is a new adventure and a new lesson is awaiting to be learnt.

The reason this blog is named ripples is in the hope that it causes intermittent waves and makes a mark somewhere someday. I feel that someday is so close by and I could see the ripples leaving it’s mark even beyond this blog. I’ll soon be posting a better post with all the details..

For now, I would like to boast of two simple things that I’m feeling very happy about..

  1. I’m going to be published on a flipbook by zero creativity. (I doubt the creativity is anywhere near zero in there, for the site is filled with so much art and interesting information for logophiles.. Do check out the site and get drenched with infotainment!) The link is here — > https://zerocreativity0.wordpress.com/2016/06/29/sun-photography-poetry-on-sun/
  2. I’ve published my first post on MyTrendingStories.com –> https://mytrendingstories.com/article/poetic-child/

Now go check out those links, while I tidy up my to-do list to make time for thanking you all properly!

Keep waiting, blogging and smiling! 🙂

Catch you all real soon! 🙂

Autobiography of a Plagiarist

Disclaimer – This blog post is a work of fiction.

Some say truth triumphs! I had never experienced it until last winter! This change cleansed me and transformed me into a good individual. Some say that there is no difference between people who steal others things  and those who snatch others ideas. I had been doing that for my material gains.  Google turned out to be my best friend for it provided me everything that I desired. Being a blogger and an amateur writer, my mind constantly required to produce and reproduce several ideas. Most of the blogging sites that came up with  different blogging contests often came up with attractive and lucrative prizes  – iPad, iPhone, Kindle, Mac Books and various electronic gadgets. I seemed to have been blinded and smitten  by these prizes that I resort to snatching ideas.

5th November 2013 – was the day when blogger.com came up with a PAN level blogger contest. The winner of that contest was to be awarded an iPhone. ‘Human Heart Vs Human Brain – Measuring conflicts. What does the heart say when the brain says no?’ It was a  topic that had to be dealt with utmost sensitivity. I usually suck at writing such articles.  The prizes attracted my eyeballs. Gluttony hurts, it  kills!

I started thinking over the topic and my brain couldn’t conceive constructive ideas relevant to the theme of the contest. I was disappointed at the fact that I was turning creativity handicap. It was indeed challenging. Any writer wouldn’t succumb to an act that I did! I typed – Heart Vs Brain on the Google Search bar and I received numerous web links. I went through the websites one by one and accumulated points.  I jotted down the points and tried to put it on my own words.  While exploring few of those websites, my eyes grabbed the attention of a blog written by an American Teenager – Brenda Anderson.

“Heart is symbolic of emotions, feelings; attachments. It has its own reasoning which the mind may not approve of, probably because it lacks the evidence or arguments that prove it to be right. But has an understanding that assures it of not being wrong.
At times, the high EQ (emotional quotient) may overshadow the strong IQ.
The reason for it is simple when faced with a situation; our heart pulls us to one direction and the mind to the other. We don’t know which way to go this gives rise to a conflict that interferes with our ability to think rationally. There is no direction, just a dead point. We feel lost and our mind stops working, stops thinking and then we become totally dependent on what our heart tells us, after all, it’s our last resort.”

This was something that I was looking for! Spot it! I copied the entire post on my document and started working on it. I meticulously made good use of the thesaurus and changed meanings of certain complex words. I made its vocabulary easy to understand. I optimized it for an Indian audience.  The deadline for the blogger contest was approaching. Brenda Anderson was indeed a blessed girl. I explored her blog and it was the repository of literature work. Her works dealt with the highest level of art and literature. I envied her for some reason. She would have won several blogger contests if she were in India. Perhaps, at that moment, I never felt guilty publishing someone else’s article under my name and that too under PAN India level. I was feeling jubilant when I posted the link to the blogger page. I was quite sure that I would win. I had no traces of guilt in my heart. Weeks passed and even months!  The contest results were about to be announced.  Many people had appreciated that article that I had lifted from Brenda Anderson’s blog and no one had even the slightest doubt that it was a stolen one. I had received over 100 comments for that single blog post. People enjoyed reading it and they had scribbled genuine comments for that. It did make me smile!

But that night, I couldn’t sleep peacefully. My conscience knocked me hard to make me feel that I had done the biggest mistake of my life. It indicated me that this was a big shame. How could a person fall down to this level? It wanted to correct my mistake. I contemplated and thought over my act! But it seemed that the results were already announced. I was declared as the winner. I was entitled to get an iPhone. I was feeling guilty and my greed for material products had to be reprimanded. I was feeling low and disappointed.  Finally, I listened to what my heart said to me and contacted the organizers. I spilled the beans! I informed them that I had lifted the article from an American girl’s blog and modified it as per my needs. But that was an honest confession. I had tears in my eyes when I spoke all that to the organizers. The organizers discussed and decided to go with the results as announced. They had awarded me the prize for my honesty. I could have simply opted to conceal the truth, but my conscience didn’t let me sleep peacefully. For years to come, my heart would have been heavy with the guilt that would often remind me of the scar that it had left! But I acknowledged my conscience by doing something that it desired.  But it would have been inappropriate if I had accepted the prize. The organizers didn’t budge and I had to accept the prize.

Image is taken from here

All the 100 plus comments that the blog post received belonged to that girl. It was the efforts of that American girl who deserved so many appreciations. I had just been a channel. I quickly added the link of her post to my blog post and added a line that my post had been inspired from Brenda’s blog post.

I quickly inspected her blog for her contact details. “You may want to let me know how you feel about my blog posts 🙂 How?  Write me at brenda.anderson7@live.com” It was mentioned at the right sidebar of the blog.

“Dear Brenda,

You might be wondering who this is. I would like to call myself as the greatest fan of Miss Brenda Anderson. Yes, I am a huge fan of your writing. I bumped across your blog through Google and I’m glad that I found it. Your articles have touched me deep! I would like to say something important. Last month I took part in a PAN India level contest and I had won it.  Please don’t get me wrong when I say that I had stolen ideas and points from your blog. I had lifted it. I’m feeling ashamed because of my act. Check this link – virtualstroller.blogspot.com/heartvsmind. All the comments on this blog post are meant for you.  Kindly forgive me. Please provide me your address.

Yours Truly,
Sankit”

I waited for her reply. Finally, two days later she replied me.

“Dear Sankit,

I’m so happy that you won the blogging contest. I’m indeed very happy for you. Thank you for all the kind words in the last email. That was sweet of you :). You don’t need to be sorry. You had taken my blog post and I’m glad you won it. It was nice going through the various comments in the blog post in the link that you had sent me. You are a nice soul, Sankit! Please do not say that you had stolen my blog post. : )  I have blog rolled you and consider me as a regular reader of your blog. You too do the same and yes whenever you read my post do leave some nice comments 😛 And my address is –

2411, Andersons Avenue, AV, Green Park, GA, Atlanta 30301, USA

Stay in touch, Sankit! Xoxox

Take Care,
Brenda ”

I was so happy to read all that. I quickly parceled the iPhone to her. I was not the right owner to that Apple product.  Initially, she refused to accept it. But after insisting she accepted it. We soon turned out to be good friends.  Yes, Truth indeed Triumphs! Sometimes you just need to be true to yourself. Sometimes you just need to listen to your heart. It’s an offense to steal others creativity!

————————————————————–

Friends, many times we knock Google’s door for ideas when our brain refuses to produce adequate necessary desired ideas. I feel disheartened to see and hear such things. My heart hurts when I read my blogger friends writing statuses on Facebook citing their plagiarized blog posts. Trust me that it is something that hurts any blogger. Who would like their blog post to be snatched? Remember that a plagiarist is no different than a thief. The difference is that a plagiarist steals others ideas while a thief steals products.  A plagiarist could steal someone’s blog post, but they can never steal someone’s creativity! Dear Plagiarists – Please do not hurt creative souls here. Your conscience will hurt you and you would live a life of guilt! If you go on to get inspired by someone’s work then do let the article owner know about this and you could link their blog post to yours. That would be a kind gesture. While using an image from Google, do give credits to the  image owner. This blog post might be a work of fiction, but this might be true for many of you out here! Stay blessed my creative people!

There are two ways to present a thought of others. You could get inspired and just spin the thought in your own unique wrap and present it to others. Or just share the post as is, just like I am doing here! This is a post written by my friend Stephen in his blog The Solitary Writer. He has been blogging for the past decade on various topics. His range of writings include fiction, political satire, Cricket Commentary, Social Issues, Reviews and many more. Do check out his blog for a perfect potpourri and you would surely find something to your taste, irrespective of your taste.

Nandri!

Nandri!

I’ve been fretting in my mind for the past few days and for hours with a draft for this post!
I just scraped my incomplete draft of 1000+ words. I was trying to say that I’m losing the prominence of I, with so many ‘I’s.. It was such a paradox and hence the scrap.

But can’t resist spilling the cause of such a big post..

This is my 100th post!

Now, I’ll wrap this up real quick with a big heart full of thanks to everyone who visited me here. Your contribution has made me better myself in ways more than I could express.

THANK YOU!!

PS. ‘Nandri’ means thank you in Tamil..

What makes friends closer?

We meet people either physically or virtually.
Few are strangers even after we have been seeing them for the past decade.
But there are strangers, who become our friends, just within hours or just a few posts..
Here are few awesome people I could proudly call as friends though I have not meet them in person or even know how they look.
For friendship is not in the number of meets and chats we have with the person.
It is a mutual feeling, like-mindedness and the respect for the other person.
The time, distance, gender, age, generation, country, religion or whatever becomes just a background noise for the friendship is between the minds and hearts and nothing else matters.
Also, the closeness we feel with the friend is not tainted by these background noise.

There are 134 words explaining that closeness is related only with feeling, and no other factor plays any role. The same is explained in seven words as

புணர்ச்சி பழகுதல் வேண்டா உணர்ச்சிதான்
நட்பாங் கிழமை தரும். (785)

Translation (Source):

Not association constant, not affection’s token bind;
‘Tis the unison of feeling friends unites of kindred mind.

This is the one couplet that flashes my mind every time I think of my friends from blogosphere. Hence, this one is dedicated to my dear friends I came across through blogging.. 🙂

Wondering what next!

I am not a person with strict timetable to lead or follow..  Yet, I always had at least the rough road map and the general idea on where I am going.. But now I feel lost in the woods without a map to follow!

I committed to write a post every single day!!

What a stupid commitment.. That is what my mind is repeating since I thought of writing the post for today. Because, I am already getting lost on what to write..

It is then I remembered a quote from somewhere.. If you don’t know what to say, when you are before an audience, go with what is troubling your mind first..

See, that really works! Now it feels like I could enjoy the adventure of discovering the forest, even if I am lost, as long as I don’t lose my spirit of adventure!

That’s it for today folks.. Let’s meet on the next leg of adventure tomorrow!

The Leap in the Leap Year!!

A New Year in the calendar
Is also a New Year for the Ripples!!
It had been two years
Since the first ripple was created!

I look back and cherish that
I have more followers than my posts
The years here taught and reinstated that
The family will be there for me
Through the thick and thin..

I have gained lots from you
And I am here to share more!
The more being, A post a day!
Yes, this is the biggest leap
I could ever make in the blog.

For, what I have been so far was
At my own liberty on the posts,
Never on any schedule,
Not on any routine,
Unpredictable even to me.

Why the leap?
It is a leap year!
So Why not take a leap.. 😉
Life is throwing challenges
Unexpected and Uprooting
So, why not take
An expected and not-so-impossible
To achieve challenge?

The one thing that always
Cheers up anyone is
A kind word and a little recognition
Which is abundant and easy
From my awesome readers!

So I am looking forward,
To earn them,
To keep me sane,
From every other challenge
Life is gonna throw my way
In the coming year!

Happy Blogging!
Happier Living!!
Never forget to
Keep Smiling!!!

Ripples of Ripples!

Tick tock..
Tick tock..
Tick tock..

The clock kept ticking..
As a new blog was created..
As I wrote my first post..

Tick tock..
Tick tock..
Tick tock..

One post..
Next post..
Few posts..
And here
Another post..
It’s still ticking..

Tick tock..
Tick tock..
Triiiiiingggggg….

The shrill is sweet..
For it marks time..
A special moment..
And it chimes to shout out…

Here is the 50th post..
On the 600th day of the first Ripple..

It’s time to throw back a quick glimpse..

I started blogging as a complete novice..
Just to spill out few words of my thoughts..
After 600 days, I’m still a novice,
Yet my brain is being filled better everyday..
Better than I could have ever dreamed..

What I thought I knew,
At the start of blogging
Has undergone a radical change..

My old beliefs were shattered..
Fears were crumbled..
Still I am trusted..
Just to be myself and
Still be better than awesome..
For new paths were discovered..
And a new journey has begun..
Within my thoughts and beyond..
In the blogosphere and beyond..

The more I read and tread,
The more I learn and realise,
How much vast the ocean is..
And how tiny a drop* I’m in blogging..

I thought I was looking
At a part of the world..
I now know I’m just looking
At a pin hole on
The outlines* of blogosphere,
Which makes me awkward..

I wonder why*
I ever thought that
I could be worthy of blogging..

And I now realise that,

The simple moments of life*
Have turned into
The treasured moments of heart,
With the joy of
Appreciation, Belief
And Compliments
From the Dear ones of blogosphere..

The life is not just about growing..
It also includes struggling and
It’s about not giving up..
It’s all about writing*,
Even through storms..

It is all about learning to stay afloat..
You just keep Jiving your way*
And you would eventually end up
In the path you are destined to..

You don’t choose a path.
The path chooses you..
And all you could hope is,
Let the walk* be filled with beauty..
And let’s not be blind to ignore
The beauty in the mundane..

When the eyes behold beauty,
Our lips light up with a smile..
Let’s spill out all our smiles here and there*
And let us straighten the world
With the curve of our lips
And the spill of our pens..

And here above
Are the eight bloggers,
Who got struck
In my compass,
With their unique charm,
To guide me
Into various realms
And have accompanied me,
In the travel of my blogosphere..

There are lot more bloggers
And pointers that have led me to here..
They had been of great help
In unravelling
My knots of thoughts*

I could have got lost
And would not be here today
Even if one of them
Were absent or invisible..

I’m reading writing living* here..
And that’s not a mere living
But it’s living the dream* life..

Let my soul talk*
And let that touch* yours..
Let you not be a Martian*
But let be a sweet Mithai*
When your heart speaks*
To hit on the like button..

It is possible only coz of YOU..
The one who’s reading this..
Till this post, till this line..
For you have been with me..
So long through the journey..

Now let me ask you,
To follow the stars..
Spread through my post..
For these are the stars
That brighten up
my dark nights
and are my companion
at my glowing moments..

Now I’m going at a loss of words..
For the simple two words “Thank You”
Is so short to express what I feel..

As I go in search of words..
I hear that sound again..

Tick tock..
Tick tock..
Tick tock..

The time stands test
To our trials and treasures..

Let me hear many more tick tocks..
And let time hear many more treasures..
Of mine from you…

Tick tock..
Tick tock..
Tick tock..

P.S. – I’m sorry that YOUR blog hasn’t find place in here yet.. I do thank you from the depth of my heart.. For reading till here.. You are indeed special to me.. Which is beyond the realms of words.. 😉

image

Thank You!!!

Why I might not leave you, Yet!!

I once had the dilemma of blogging becoming extinct like some other things of the past, just like my friend Darshith, I find myself drawn back to blogging unlike anything before..

I couldn’t pin point it to one specific reason.. But here are few, that might be the reasons..

I could choose to depict me, as I want you to see me, rather than letting your judgement, shape the me..

There is a personal touch and also an impersonal attitude in every post and every comment..

I could pour out my deepest secrets and pass on it as just another event, or pass on my mundane event to be the top most secret revealed to you..

I could create, modify and delete in this blogosphere.. Oh yeah, I feel God-like with such power, which is never ever possible anywhere else.. 😉

I could initiate and become the leader, or just lay back and be a follower.. Most importantly, I could switch roles as often as I like and it’s absolutely right and would never be judged wrong..

I could inspire and be inspired.. I could receive awards and dish out awards..

Since these all are too unique, I couldn’t see blogging becoming extinct anytime soon for me.. 😉

Moreover, what would I do in life without the ego boost I receive, when the sweet beeps become musical tingles for every like, comment and one more follower.. 😉

And a special thanks to YOU!! The one who had made it till here.. Not just the end of the post, also through my journey in the blogosphere.. 🙂 😀
